Meet J.L. Best
Insurance is only part of the conversation
I help individuals and families understand their options and plan ahead — in everyday language, at a pace that feels comfortable.

Most people don't wake up wanting to talk about insurance. They want to know their family will be okay. That's really what this work is about, and it's why I approach it as a conversation rather than a sales pitch.
My background is in helping people make sense of choices that sound complicated on paper: what life insurance actually does, what final expense planning involves, what to ask before deciding anything. If something doesn't make sense, I'll keep explaining it until it does — and if something isn't right for you, I'll say so.
Outside of work, a lot of my life revolves around music. Guitars, playing with friends, being out in the community. Music makes the world go round. If we've crossed paths that way, you already know the version of me that shows up for these conversations too.
I also try to be useful beyond insurance itself — pointing people toward assistance with things like living trusts and powers of attorney, and doing pro bono work where I can. Ask, and if I can help, I will.
What I help with
- Life insurance
- Final expense planning
- Ask about available assistance with living trusts
- Ask about available assistance with powers of attorney
- Pro bono assistance, where circumstances call for it
I am not an attorney and do not provide legal, tax, or financial advice. Information here is general and educational.
